Feature of the month March: BLUE FOR TWO ![]() When I was 14 I went to see my first real concert. Me and one of my best friends Jens -former guitarist of april tears- brought a ghettoblaster to tape the gig with & sat ourselves right in front of the stage. As you can understand by now we didn't really know how to behave at a concert back then, but I have to tell you -we got ourselves an excellent recording of Blue For Two´s show that evening at Musikcafét, Tranås. They kicked off with "Into the garden of your mind" which I still hold as one of my ever favourites with the duo. Their sound in the old days is best described by Charlie Storm -latter a member of Blue For Two ("Moments" 1997 -actually with Charlie wearing my hood on the cover-) as "Polish circus music" mixed with a kind of electronic blues. Henryk Lipp & Freddie Wadling, the duo that is Blue For Two, made a big impression to the young kids that night & it has stayed that way to me through all their records. They are simply the best Swedish band ever to me. To work with Freddie on "Hip Shooter" (the B-side of the new "Seventeen" single) is of course a dream come true. One of the finest singers out there singing a song I´ve written. It made me feel like I was 14 again. /Andreas The Best of BLUE FOR TWO "Five days in a row", "Firebird" & "Ships" all from BLUE FOR TWO 1986 "Into the garden of your mind" & "Sink or Swim" from SONGS ROM A PALE AND BITTER MOON 1988 "The Trap" & "Like an egyptian" from SEARCH & ENJOY 1992 "Solitary", "International" & Interzone" from EARBOUND 1994 "Sky" from MOMENTS 1997 Catalogue Numbers BLUE FOR TWO RACD 017 Radium Records SONGS FROM A PALE AND BITTER MOON RACD 045 Radium Records SEARCH & ENJOY RACD 90 Radium Records EARBOUND ERCD 067 Energy Records MOMENTS SW22605 SW/eden Records Back |
